I've been looking at vacuums lately. Just looking...not seriously buying yet. It's on my birthday list, and Hubby says I need to be more specific instead of just putting "vacuum".
I currently have a Hoover Windtunnel Light (upright with bag), and despite the fact that the hoses are cracked and accessories chewed and broken, the suction is still decent. Actually, I've never had anything to compare it to, so it could be downright horrible for all I know. I just thought it might be time to upgrade soon, maybe get a vacuum that doesn't stink up a room if I suck up old Cheerios and then run it a few days later.
Right now I'm eyeing the Dyson DC14, a great vacuum for us allergy sufferers. However, at over $500, I'm thinking that it's waaay out of my league.
SO - I need ideas! I can research vacuums all day, but when it comes down to it, I like to hear what others have, what they've tried, bagged vs. bagless...that sort of thing. So, bring it! Your opinion is needed and appreciated! :o)

Idea. Get married again. Put it on your registry. That's how Christa and I are getting our vacuum.
Oooh, a Dyson....that's on my dreamlist, too! Those are the absolute best, but if you are looking to save money, Dirt Devils are pretty good too. I have an upright (with attachments) and the weight is pretty decent, since I have never had a problem lugging it all over the house. Let us know what you get! (Love the layout...it's extra special Irish, LOL)
oh, i forget what its called, but i think its the dyson with the swivel ball head, so you don't need to go straight to clean. i would love that for under chairs, tables, around furniture, etc.
we have a meile and its also great.
We have a Bissell; it works fine, I don't know the model name, but definitely BAGLESS. I hate those bags!! Dyson is on my dream list too!!!! Wonder if it would really pick up all this dog hair around here.
James: how do you know you are getting a vacuum?? I wouldn't get married again just for a vacuum, and if I EVER did, the vacuum would be a Dyson ....:)))))))
dysons are from the devil, my little brother works at target and they are the msot returned item in the whole store.
to be honest, i love my oreck :)
love you, cjc
Hey Beth. I do have a Dyson, it was one of the gifts I gave myself when I bought the last (but that is a different lifetime). Anyway, it was a dust and allergen reducer one, and it works great. Super suction. I got it brand new, off a website that had it cheaper than the stores, with no sales tax. So the vaccuum was going for $500 in stores, and I got it for $395. FYI...
